Nas & Common came through a BMI hosted event before the Grammy’s and answered a few questions about Violence in rap lyrics. This is an age old discussion that always seems to come up so it’s good to hear from the rapper’s who can actually express themselves effectively outside of the music. If you’ve been rocking with the blog for sometime then you might remember the post I did back in October when Nas was on CNN after the Derrion Albert tragedy. “They” basically throw around the blame on all that’s wrong with our culture on rap music. You can hear Commons response below and if you check out the second video you’ll get a nice performance of “The Light” with a guitarist playing in the background.
